Borussia Moenchengladbach Left Back Linked With Summer Move To Bavaria

Bayern Munich eyeing Ian Maatsen amid Kompany's interest

Borussia Mönchengladbach left-back linked with summer move to Bavaria

Chelsea defender has impressed in Germany this season

Bayern Munich are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Borussia Mönchengladbach left-back Ian Maatsen, according to FootballFancast. The Dutchman has impressed in the Bundesliga this season and has been linked with a move to Bayern in the past.

Maatsen's contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach expires in 2024, and it is believed that Bayern could take advantage of the €35 million release clause in his contract. The German champions are in the market for a new left-back, as Alphonso Davies is expected to leave for Real Madrid this summer.

Maatsen has made 25 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists. He has also been capped by the Netherlands at youth level.

Bayern Munich are not the only club interested in Maatsen, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also said to be monitoring his situation. However, Bayern are believed to be the frontrunners for his signature, as they can offer him the chance to play in the Champions League.

If Maatsen does join Bayern Munich, he will be the second Dutch defender to sign for the club this summer, following the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus.
